First some advice for the people at home

The ProtonMail people have published a very good guide/checklist for working form home. I posted earlier about securing your communication online, which can also be useful. The material below is what inspired me to start this blog, as I was liking it to my friends, they said I should make a collection of these links. So here we are.

Haha, thats me! Had this image in my mind after seeing a advanced selfie video on youtube. Turned out great althought i wish the monitor in front of me was a bit more brighter so that you could understand that it is an monitor without me having to describe it. But, it was too dark to pull out the shadows from that area.

Attacks, fraud, phishing...

There are more things that go bump in the night on the internet. COVID-19 has already got it's own phishing and scam campaigns. The US CERT has a good advisory threats that are currently identified. The EU has issued a similar guidance that is equally worth reading. And writing this in Finland, I have to also mention that our CERT has issued an advisory as well (in Finnish).

There is much to be critical of on the internet, but be aware and remember this article if you get an interesting email from the WHO or perhaps the CDC. Check that the links take to the official domains, where you will in most cases also find the same information. Criminals are often after your credentials, financial info or other valuable data.

Remember to always take a step back an consciously evaluate what links you click in an e-mail or suspicious site. Scammers often try to appeal to emotional reactions like fear or greed, to make people blind to the fact that they are on the losing side.
