It feels bad that we live in a time where we need to defend the usefulness of scientific tools and methods. But here is a good article on ArsTechnica about the importance of scientific modeling, in response to one senator on Twitter. The article though is very well written and give good background on the basics of scientific modeling. So we may end up learning something form this weirdness afterall.
